Our Board of Directors is an important forum for us to discuss and debate strategic ideas and bold bets. We benefit greatly from the different perspectives and experiences each of our board members bring and shares with us to push us forward in our mission. Alan Board members gather at least every trimester.
Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve is the co-founder & CEO of Alan, on a mission to make personal, proactive and holistic health part of people’s daily life, striving to be the world’s most member-centric healthcare company. He is the author of Healthy Business, a book about company culture and of De l’Assurance Maladie au Partenaire Bien-Être an optimistic book on how to transform our healthcare system.
Prior to Alan, Jean-Charles co-founded Expliseat, which has revolutionised aircraft seating for economy class.
He holds a MSc in Engineering from Ecole des Ponts Paristech, a MBA from Collège des Ingénieurs and is a member of the French Institute of Actuaries.
He earned the Ordre National du Mérite in 2021.
Charles Gorintin is the co-founder and CTO of Alan.
Prior to co-founding Alan, Charles Gorintin was a data science leader at fast-growing social networks Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, where he worked on fighting fake accounts, on growth, and on social psychology.
Charles holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, a Masters degree in Machine Learning from ENS Paris-Saclay, and a Masters of Financial Engineering from UC Berkeley - Haas School of Business.
He is a member of the French-American Foundation "Young Leaders" program.
Jan Hammer is a general partner at Index. He joined Index in 2010 and focuses on financial and information/data services across all stages. He joined Alan’s board in April 2018, following the Series A investment. Jan has invested in and worked with disruptive companies like Adyen, Collibra, Robinhood , SafetyCulture and Wise. He is ranked first in Europe on the Forbes Midas List for four years in a row, and among the top 15 on Forbes’ global list. He was previously working as an investor at General Atlantic and an investment banker at Morgan Stanley He studied PPE at Oxford and holds an MBA from INSEAD.
Connie is a Managing Director at Temasek where she is responsible for investments and portfolio management in the Financial Services space, covering both FinTech and traditional financial sectors. She joined the Board of Alan in April 2020, following the Series C investment. Connie has worked with many participations including Adyen. Prior to joining Temasek, she worked at JPMorgan in Hong Kong advising financial institution clients across subsectors including banks, insurance, brokerage, and asset management.
Lubomira is a Partner at JAB Holding Companies. She joined Alan’s Board in June 2021, as an independent. She is also a Board Member of the Société Générale. Before JAB, Lubomira worked as Chief Digital Officer at L'Oréal, Deputy CEO at Valtech and Innovation ecosystem lead at Microsoft. Lubomira holds a master of public policy from Sciences Po, and Economics from ENS ULM, College of Europe and Berkeley. She was named “Student of the year” in 2003.
Philippe is a Founder and Portfolio Manager at Coatue Management. He joined the Board in April 2021, following the Series D investment. He invested in many technology companies, including Snapchat, Spotify, Uber, Figma and ByteDance, where he also sits at the Board.
He previously worked at McKinsey and Tiger Management under the supervision of Julian Robertson. Philippe holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from MIT.
Ara is the Senior Principal at Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG), part of OTPP. Ara has followed Alan for a long time and has joined the Board of Alan in may 2022 following the series E investment. Ara worked as a Senior Associate Director in Temasek’s European direct equity investment team. Prior to that he held investment and advisory roles at Ares Management and Credit Suisse in London. Ara holds a BSc from HEC Lausanne in Switzerland and a MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics.
