Are there any coverage limitations?

Please read the insurance product information sheet (IPID) for a detailed overview of coverage limitations.

  • Reimbursement up to 50% of the costs of the total hospital invoice, including pre-post costs and serious illnesses, if your mutuality does not intervene on any item of the hospital bill.
  • The reimbursement of a planned hospitalization within the other member states of the EU is limited to €25,000. This restriction does not apply for Belgium.
  • Reimbursement of unplanned hospitalization abroad is limited to €500,000. This restriction applies equally to others Member States of the EU as well as third countries.
  • Limit of € 1,500 for fertility treatments with the intervention of the RIZV/NIHDI.
  • Limit of 150€ for sterilization.
  • Limit of 1,000€ for the donor's medical expenses.
  • Limit of 1,000€ on the cost of a wig.
  • Reimbursement limit of €5,000 for the total of prostheses, orthopaedic appliances, medical equipment and medical devices if your mutuality does not intervene.
  • A personal contribution for hospital admissions where you opt for a single room may apply. The amount of the personal contribution is mentioned in the Special Terms and Conditions, if applicable.

What is not covered?

  • Care not provided for in the section 'What is insured?' and in particular: contraception, surrogacy, refractive eye surgery, thermalism, thalassotherapy, hygienic-dietetic therapy, breastfeeding advice, sleep coaching
  • Fertility treatments without the intervention of the RIZV/NIHDI.
  • Care not prescribed and provided by an INAMI recognized care provider, or the care provided by a homeopath, osteopath, chiropractor not recognized by the health insurance fund, or care provided by an acupuncturist not recognized by the professional association.
  • Care resulting from drug use, alcohol abuse or as a result of an intentional or reckless act.
  • Aesthetic treatments, or functional/subjective ailments whose cause or symptoms cannot be medically explained.
